About
Lindsey Goldberg is a New York-based artist, originally from New Jersey, who now splits her time between New York City and Tennessee. Her interdisciplinary practice explores the experience of the female body in contemporary society while encapsulating the experience of womanhood in simple, profound gestures with a surrealist twist. Inspired by traditional techniques of Renaissance oil painting, Lindsey portrays the intimate moments of womanhood and cultural explorations by confronting the common notion of the conventionally “beautiful woman” while critiquing the objectification of women in classical art. She instead highlights the lived experience of the female figure. She also explores the nostalgia behind childhood memories and youthful reflections as one enters adulthood. Her illustrations and paintings combine the experiences of girlhood with aspects of nature eluding to her own experiences from childhood. She often employs embroidery and oil paint to include the tactile world in the curated experience. This hybrid work mainly exists as oil paintings on canvas, ink or graphite illustrations, and sculptural installations. She is working towards her BFA in Fine Arts at Parsons School Of Design.
